63rd Republic Day Celebration at SGI

We commemorate Republic Day as the date on which constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26th Jan 1950. Today we celebrated the 63rd Republic Day by paying our tribute to the National Flag followed by two minutes of silence in memory of unknown soldiers. Dr S R Lapalikar, Director, School of Engineering unfurled the National Flag as National Anthem was sung by group of staff. The saluting by the security guards added color to the somber occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lapalikar called upon all staff and students to emulate the ideals of freedom fighters. Engineers and other professionals have a great role to play in developing future of our society. Students must put in hard work and excel in their respective field. He complimented and distributed sports kit to students who has won laurels in national and state level sports events.

To add color to the occasion, host of activities such as tug of war, musical chair and kite flying were organized and enthusiastically participated by one and all. A league cum knock out limited over cricket match evoked huge response. The match was finally won by Indore Institute of Science & Technology (II) under the leadership of Prof S B Batra. The multi colored kites filled the sky and gave another dimension to the celebration. The laurel of best kite flier went to Ms Neha Gupta. Ms Reena proved her mettle in dodging 50 other participants and bagged the first prize in Musical Chair. Over 100 prizes were distributed to best performers of various events.
