The word ‘ENTREPRENEUR’ is derived from a French word, “ENTREPENDRE” which means ‘to undertake’. Any student who wants to work for himself of herself is an Entrepreneur.
The basic purpose is to motivate young engineering, management and Pharmacy students for self-employment and to adopt entrepreneur-ship career & to make students capable of perceiving & exploring business opportunities. The EDP Cell develops individuals across socio economic backgrounds, who have the courage to dream, the drive to make a difference, the ability to believe in themselves and the persistence to convert their thoughts into action. The cell works to prepare a pool of next generation entrepreneurs who, through their dreams and action, would contribute to the economic and social development of India. The EDP cell at Shail has group of students who get-together to practice and promote Entrepreneurship in the campus. With their commitment, innovative thinking and entrepreneurial action, they explore Entrepreneurship as a career option and a way of life.
ENTREPRENEURIAL CHARACTERISTICS:
An entrepreneur who has a high level of administrative capability, mental and emotional stability, flair and ability for decision-making, initiative, creativeness, self-confidence, communication ability, intelligence, organizational skill, human relations, ability and has a sound technical knowledge stands much better chance of success in running the enterprise.
The personality characteristics make the entrepreneur quite different from an ordinary human being. Some of the characteristics are inborn in him and some are acquired. The traits can be further developed in an individual if they are present in him to some extent in latent form, by well structured training and development programmes.
