ROBOTIC WORKSHOP AT INDORE INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Robots in antiquity and through the Middle Ages were used primarily for entertainment. Inventors such as Al-Jazari and Leonardo Da Vinci worked to build automatons for their benefactors. Al-Jazari built a floating band that resembled humans and performed various songs and drum beats. Da Vinci created a automaton based on the knight's armor. It wasn't until 1961that the first modern industrial use of the robot was attempted.. This development changed the dynamics of robotics and brought them into the workplace. Through the rest of the century, robots changed the structure of society and allowed for safer conditions for labor. Industry has benefited drastically from the expanse of a robotic work force. Automated machines have taken over the duties of dangerous and mundane jobs from humans, allowing greater productivity .

Considering the importance of Robotics in the days to come, Indore Institute of Science &Technology has organized a two days workshop under the aegis of M/S Technophilia, a Pune based national educator of Robotics and Embedded System. The workshop was inaugurated in presence of Dr S R Lapalikar, Dr Maya Ingle and Dr Abhay Kothari. 104 students of Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical and MCA department have attended the workshop. The highlight of the workshop was actual design and fabrication of a robot by students. Detailed knowledge gained by the students  will help them to use the concept in their minor and major projects. Miss Khushubu Jain, Training Officer gave vote of thanks.
